2026 Yamaha Ténéré 700: Specs, Price and How It Compares

This is a spec-based overview, not a ride review. Every figure is copied from Yamaha Motor USA’s 2026 Ténéré 700 specifications and model page, checked on 22 October 2026. Yamaha also sells a Ténéré 700 World Raid, which isn’t covered here.

Who the Ténéré 700 suits

The spec sheet is aimed at riders who expect to spend real time on dirt and gravel: a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel on Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, 9.4 in of ground clearance, a fully adjustable fork and a shock with a remote preload adjuster. Yamaha lists two throttle maps (SPORT and EXPLORER), on/off traction control, three-mode selectable ABS and a 6.3-inch vertical TFT with smartphone connectivity. It sits between heavy single-cylinder dual-sports and big 1,200cc-plus adventure tourers. The 34.4 in seat is the tallest of Yamaha’s road bikes in our seat height comparison, so shorter riders should sit on one first. For the difference between adventure bikes and dual-sports, see our adventure vs dual sport vs enduro guide.

Strengths and trade-offs (from the spec sheet)

  • Off-road-ready chassis. 8.3-in / 7.9-in travel, 9.4 in clearance and a 21-inch front wheel.
  • Adjustable suspension. Fully adjustable fork; shock with remote preload adjuster and rebound damping.
  • Electronics without complexity. Two throttle maps, switchable traction control and selectable ABS.
  • Tall. 34.4 in seat.
  • Smaller tank than some rivals. 4.2 gal, against 6.1 gal on the KLR650.
  • Chain final drive rather than the shaft drive of the BMW below.
